BIOGRAPHIIIIIIIIIE

Xavier de Rosnay et Gaspard Augé se sont rencontrés il y a quatre ans. Gaspard est originaire de Vincennes, Xavier de Seine et Marne. À l'époque, Xavier est en école de graphisme. Gaspard dessine des flyers. Xavier a tâté de la basse et de la guitare dans des formations de disco périmée, Gaspard a joué de la batterie dans des groupes de rock déprimé. Xavier est bavard, Gaspard est réservé. Un mois après leur rencontre - juste aidés d'une groovebox et d'un sampler - ils bricolent deux morceaux.
Le premier, un hommage aux Buggles, finit sur une compilation et sombre dans les oubliettes. Le second, dont les samples vocaux sont tirés du «Never Be Alone » du groupe anglais Simian, tombe un jour, par le génie du hasard, dans les oreilles de Pedro Winter, homme emblématique de la french touch, manageur des Daft Punk et qui avec son label Ed Banger Records entend bien donner un nouveau souffle au concept de french touch, qui à force d'avoir été pillé et copié à travers le monde a pris un sacré coup de vieux. Pedro, cherche alors, pour la deuxième sortie de son label (un titre de Mehdi remixé par Château Flight) une face B. Le deal avec Justice est signé dans la foulée, le test-pressing est envoyé aux DJ's et devant les retours hallucinants, la face B devient face A. « Never Be Alone » est licencié par Gigolo, le label de DJ Hell, puis les Anglais s'y collent. 50 000 exemplaires s'écoulent, le morceau squatte trois ans les dancefloors et les Justice font une entrée fracassante dans l'histoire de la dance music. Boostés par leur soudaine
popularité, ils sont invités à faire les DJ's aux quatre coins du monde et ils remixent à tour de bras appliquant méthodiquement leur sens de la Justice à Britney Spears, Franz Ferdinand, Soulwax, Scenario Rock, NERD... avec des versions impressionnantes par leur manière de se foutre des usages et des coutumes en règle, de ne pas respecter les mélodies de base et de s'asseoir sur les convenances de la dance music.
